I thought I'd share some before and after photos.
The night before Nicholas' surgery, I realized that we didn't have any photographs of his tiny ear canal. I tried several times to get a good picture, but because the canal was so very tiny, it is hard to see. Literally, it was basically just a slit. In the picture I circled what was actually his canal:
And here it is one-month post-op...no need to mark where the canal is now!
Here is the skin graft donor site 3 days post-op (warning: it is a bit graphic, or at least for someone with a stomach like mine!). As people warned me, this was by far the worst part of the entire surgery. I wasn't prepared for it to seep and stick to his clothing. This picture was taken the night of my meltdown, in which I was sure that I had somehow done something horribly wrong. I actually took the picture to send to Dr. Kesser the next day, that's how freaked out I was. Thankfully, by morning, it was done seeping and 100% better. Nicholas was very sensitive about it as well, and didn't want anyone seeing it. (The yellow part is a patch that is put over the skin that is taken. The red part in the picture is the skin from where the patch pulled apart too early)
And here it is one month post-op. Isn't it beautiful?!?! This will eventually fade even more. (Please disregard the dirty mouth...maybe I should try to photoshop that before I put it in his scrapbook!)
