I know all of you from home will be jealous to hear that Atlanta is sunny and 83. The aquarium didn't work out because of lack of time, but we promised Nick that before his surgeries were all over, we would take him back.

So Dr. Jones was so surprised at the outcome of Nicholas' ear. He said that he had done 3 ears the same week, same stage, and Nicholas' was by far the easiest case, with the least amount of surgery time. He would have bet that Nicholas' would have turned out the best.
The game plan is this: Tomorrow morning we will take off the dead skin and if there is still skin underneath, he will do a small skin graft to cover the area. If cartilage is exposed, he will use a skin flap. The skin flap will be skin from behind his ear, and he will cover the exposed area. That part will be "attached" back to his head until December, when he will elevate that part again (the same procedure that was done two weeks ago). If that is the case, then we will wait a few months to have the last stage of surgery.
Regardless of which procedure is needed, the surgery should last around 2.5 hours and then we can head home, assuming he is feeling good.
Scott already has flights booked for him and Nicholas for a post-op checkup next Monday. Nicholas is excited to be flying again!
I'm glad that this is being taken care of and feel at peace with everything. Another wake-up call for 4 a.m. tomorrow!
