As we prepare to welcome 2009 in style, I can't help but think of 2008. It's been a long year. A year full of blessings. A year of challenges. Even though we aren't quite where I imagined we'd be at this time last year in regards to Nicholas' surgeries, we are further along than when 2008 began. While we begin 2009 being more emotionally spent, we certainly begin 2009 with many more blessings. Blessings from family and friends, blessings from teachers, blessings from bloggers around the world that check in on us, blessings from all of you that keep us in your prayers, blessings from God.
In the past month we have been blessed with caring people that have donated money to help us with unexpected travel costs to Atlanta. Nicholas' school surprised us with a fundraiser called "Nickels for Nick" which completely shocked us. And a few days later we received another donation from a family that decided to give to others this holiday season. I don't know how to adequately thank all of you. It is quite humbling to receive such generous gifts, and even more humbling to know that you wanted to give to our family. Someday, your generosity will be paid forward to another family. Thank you.
As I mentioned, tonight we will bring in the new year in style. Exactly how Scott and I want it to be this year...with the four of us, celebrating our family and health. Scott will be bringing fine cuisine home for our dinner (Applebee's!) and then we will be playing games, games, games. Sparkling grape juice is chilling and the crystal has been washed. I can't think of a better reason to use our crystal than in celebrating our blessings with our children.
Thank you to each of you. May you have a wonderful and safe 2009. May you be blessed with health and prosperity. May God bless your family as He has blessed ours.
